Alfred's Cafe

Very old style (in a good way) American Cafe/tavern. Our lunch options ranged from breakfast to burgers, salads and the usual sandwiches. Solid "American" food, good wait staff that allowed us to have a longish meeting without rushing us. The building is one of the oldest in the city, great funky charm.

It's a nice little mom and pop type place.

I had the frisco eggs benedict and added bacon. It was delicious! I'll be coming back! 😋

Our waitress was so nice and welcoming. When we told her we had to leave soon due to our train she brought us to go cups for our coffee. Also their peppered bacon is the best bacon I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

My daughter had the chicken strips and they were great. I had the Boom boom burger and it. Was amazing. The fries are shoestring but tasty.

The tacos are Devine! This is a great little place to go before a concert or anytime to grab a tasty bite and a brew...or more. Very friendly staff and wonderful food. I come here to draw and just unwind after the week. Such a fantastic little place.

Best chicken fried steak I've had in ages!! Thick toast, perfect eggs to order, friendly staff. :) I will be back.

Very busy for breakfast but with good reason. The food is always delicious.The staff is totally on their job and friendly. The bar is connected to the restaurant, but it's not intrusive at all. Family friendly, TV's showing sport events, view of the kitchen from the dining area...My family's weekend breakfast go to.

The food is great each time I visit with guest and they leave very surprised that they have found a new din in experience in Tacoma and plan on returning, especially for their bacon.

I am so sorry Brett has lost his lease to Alfreds. It was the best under his management! Looking forward to Manny's (Bretts other restaurant)and their incredible food.

Food is great, service is great, and I enjoyed my mimosa. I only felt it was a tad bit too pricey but I feel that's a minor inconvenience. I definitely will be visiting more often but only occasionally.

Stopped in on a busy Saturday morning for a bite to eat and the place was packed so I pulled up a seat at the bar. The bar tender was quick to arrive with a menu and a friendly greeting despite being extremely busy and got me a drink right if the bat and said he’d be right back. A quick browse of their option packed menu and I was ready to order and it was like the bartender could read my mind because he was there almost immediately. The environment was upbeat and the other guests were pleasant to chat with and a few minutes later my food arrived and my tummy was happy. It was a quick in and out breakfast as I had places to be and I’m happy I stopped in. Thank you Alfred’s Cafe and staff, you rocked it!!!!

I've been here twice and the food is delicious. Their menu is really diverse and good. Staff is friendly and prices are good for the amount of food you get.

Wouldn’t stop here again. Ordered the BLTA with wheat bread and they brought it out on sourdough. It looked really good though and they brought me another sandwich. This one looked okay when it got to the table. The lettuce on the sandwich was wilted and shredded into tiny pieces with barely any at all on the sandwich. I had asked for some ranch for my fries to only hear they were out of ranch.. How do you run out if you’re a restaurant? They also didn’t carry any french vanilla or various creamer just half and half. Came here from out of town and not impressed.

Came on a recommendation of our hotel. It's by the Tacoma dome and somewhere I probably wouldn't stop if I was driving by. It's pretty relaxed inside. Open seating one side is a bar and the other side is a cute retro diner. Lots of locals. The server was great they basically will do any substitute you want and will work with ya. Portions are huge. Pancakes are delish and the Philly is also tasty.

This is a staple for solid food in Tacoma. Awesome breakfast and killer burgers.

Rest assured that this historic Tacoma café begs to be experienced! Ambiance, food & drink only add to the merriment of being somewhere history is experienced, felt, and has seemingly stood still. The staff, especially the tenders at the bar bring additional warmth.

Great place to stop for breakfast, place was really busy but didn't have a long wait and the staff was great. Friendly and efficient. One of the best breakfast hashes I have had in a long time.

Had a large group (20-25) reserved for breakfast a couple weeks in advance. Alfred's Cafe called that morning to confirm the reservation. They handled ordering and delivering food with ease. The food was delivered quickly and was easily some of the best breakfast I have had in a restaurant. They have some unique items that are a nice twist from the norm.

First time here. Fast service, in the bar. Attending the Elton John concert.You will get a concert menu when it's concert night. Good selections. They will also seat you with another party if they have the room. Will return.

The best little cafe/pub in Tacoma. Super friendly service and delicious food and to top it all off the decor is like taking a step into the beautiful interesting past i absolutely love it, highly suggest this place to everybody

A great place for breakfast, huge portions and delicious food. Staff is friendly, efficient and attentive; but not over bearing.We are visiting Tacoma and found the place listed on line. We walked over and are happy that we did. They have a nice omelette variety and some interesting signature dishes. My wife loved the chorizo hash plate and I enjoyed my chicken fried steak with two types of gravy. Highly recommended!

Great breakfast at reasonable price. Had the chicken fried steak with O'Brien potatoes. Gravy was delicious. Staff is so accommodating. My wife and I always share a meal as it is plenty for two. They are happy to split it for us. Bloody Mary had nice zip to it.

This place is bomb. I went their with a colleague one day before work and ordered the veggie breakfast platter. It was delicious. The serving sizes are huge.

We love going here for breakfast every Saturday. The bacon is the best in town! Always get a great meal and service. We really enjoy the casual atmosphere and friendly staff!

A really excellent Casual Cafe. you can tell that the place has been here for a while, because when you enter the building looks kind of run-down from the street. But when you get inside really is an excellent place. Staff is very friendly, the service is excellent, the portions are huge, and the food is really really good.

My wife and I went here for the first time today and it was pretty good. The service was fantastic. Our waitresses were very friendly and helped us sift through the menu and told us some of the popular options.The atmosphere here is really what attracted us. It a very passive style dinner with a lot of history. The food was not my favorite but it was still pretty good. Same with the Coffee not my favorite.So here is my 2 cents. I don’t rate places down just because it’s not the best food or coffee I’ve ever had. There could be another person who think this is the best food in Tacoma and that’s great!The bar area looked cool also with a lot of beers on tap and a large selection of hard beverages.This place is definitely worth trying we enjoyed our experience here today and plan on going back!

Good service. I was a little disappointed when I broke into the egg and it didn't run down over everything. That's one thing I look forward to in a Benedict. However, the flavors were spot on and by the time I finished I didn't mind at all. Overall great food.

Fajita omelette was delicious! Friend's fish and chips were crispy and not oily. Awesome place.

Brittney was great. I had the meat omelet with toast... It was good, although the meats were a lil bit over cooked & too crispy for my taste. Absolutely Loved the freezerves jam with my toast tho.

Came here after work for a breakfast lunch. They lady working was really nice and made my experience here awesome! Food was delicious. Ill definitely be coming back!
